Can we believe in the statistics reported by Outlook?
I refer to the July 24, 2010 edition of Outlook Business. While travelling back home from a holiday, out of a set of choices, I chose to pick up Outlook Business. After reading the cover story and some other articles, I went to the CORPORATE section on page no. 86. I glanced through the statistics and was impressed with the kind of info provided. But, the same was short living. I was surprised to see that SBI Mcap is mentioned as 7245.5 Crs and that of Indian Bank as 146,156.3 Crs. I thought that there could be printing error in one place, but, same was the State of Axis Bank. How can a reputed brand like Outlook be so negligent on statistics? Then, I went through BSE 500: Top 10 losers and was surprised to see Sterlite listed here with 75.4% loss in 15days. Infact, there was split and bonus issue, taking the price to 1/4 and not loss of 75%, as reported. Same seems to be with Tata Tea and Orbit Corporation. Can we believe in the statistics reported by Outlook?
